Superb Image Quality

Using the same 24.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor as the EOS R6 Mark II this camera is capable of producing stunning imagery while maintaining excellent ISO levels of 100-102,400.

Fast and furious, the R8 can record up to 40 frames per second in electronic shutter mode. The camera can also capture images at 30fps in RAW Burst mode with a 0.5-second pre-capture so you never miss a beat.

Lightweight Body for Handheld Content

With a body based on the Canon EOS RP, the R8 will have a familiar feel for any Canon EOS R user. It is lighter than the RP, however, weighing just 416 grams to create an incredibly portable system that is ideal for handheld shooting.

The camera features a Photo/Video switch as well as a Mode Dial and an On/Off/Lock switch for total camera control. The electronic viewfinder (EVF) comes with OVF assist for a more natural live view as well as an impressive 120fps refresh rate.

Hybrid Content Creation

The Canon R8 has many features that make it excellent for hybrid content creators. The Photo/Video switch (first introduced in the EOS R6 Mark II) is an invaluable tool for those who regularly make the switch between the two forms. It allows for separate use of the custom mode dials and splits the menu depending on which mode you are in.

Canon’s Multifunction Shoe as well as audio and visual ports allow for the addition of accessories such as microphones and monitors to be attached, creating a complete pro-video setup.

Fast Autofocus

The camera makes use of Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system. The fast autofocus works down to -6.5EV for low-light photography and can be set to one of 3 mode zones.

This autofocus is the most advanced from Canon yet with comprehensive subject detection including; Humans (Eye, Face, Head & Body), Animals (Cats, Dogs, Horses & Birds) and Vehicles (Cars, Bikes, Trains & Aircraft).

Professional Video

The R8 full-frame mirrorless camera is designed as much for video as it is for imagery. The sensor takes 6K oversampled video to create crisp 4K 60p video, perfect for any budding filmmaker.

For a completely professional video set-up, the R8 can record with a wide dynamic range in CLog3, has unlimited recording capacity, shoot up to 180fps in full HD and work in false colour. Plus, with a choice of 3 or 5-second pre-recording, you’ll never miss a moment.

Vertical Video

Speed up your workflow with instant vertical record. The camera automatically detects whether you are shooting in portrait or landscape and saves the files in that orientation. This is perfect for creating reels and sharing straight to social media.

The Canon R8 also has a wide range of selectable aspect ratios in landscape that act as guides for post-production cropping.

Guided Learning

To make the leap that much easier, the EOS R8 has multiple features for you to become quickly accustomed to a manual camera. The Guided Learning User Interface is like a manual in your camera with information on all the modes on the top dial. The camera also includes many creative Scene Modes for in-camera filters so that you can focus on the shot and not the editing afterwards.

Easy Sharing

Making sharing easy, the R8 has 2.4GHz wifi, Bluetooth 4.2 and Apple MFI for instant sharing. You can also transfer images to the Canon Image App to sort and edit. The UVC connection makes for a quick plug-and-play option great for streaming.
