The Canon RF 50mm F1.4L VCM is a hybrid lens with a natural perspective making it a must for portraits, reportage and video. The lens comes equipped with a Nano USM and Voice Coil Motor for fast and quiet autofocus as well as a fast f1.4 aperture for exceptional bokeh and low-light performance. Other standout features include an Iris Ring, minimal focus breathing and smooth focusing.

The 11-blade aperture produces outstanding depth-of-field while filmmakers are sure to appreciate the minimal focus breathing and separate Iris Ring*.

*Iris ring is inactive for controlling aperture in still photo shooting when using the lens with EOS R system cameras released before May 2024.

The RF 50mm F1.4L VCM produces exceptional sharpness thanks to two aspheric elements and a UD lens along with Super Spectra and ASC coatings for incredible clarity. The lens comes equipped with a Nano USM and Voice Coil Motor (VCM)* for rapid yet smooth, precise focusing for both stills and video.

*Important: The Voice Coil Motor (VCM) in RF 50MM F1.4L VCM emits a low-level magnetic field. While generally safe to use, we advise consulting your doctor if you have a pacemaker or any other medical device to address any concerns.

Made of Tougher Stuff

The RF 50mm f1.4 boasts a dust- and water-resistant construction* so that you can use it in less-than-desirable weather conditions. The lens also features a fluorine coating on the front element to prevent dirt from sticking.

*Although the lens features dust- and water-resistant construction, this cannot completely prevent dust or water droplets from entering the lens.

Hybrid Lens Range

The RF 50mm f1.4 is a part of Canon’s hybrid range of lenses and is approximately 40% lighter than the RF 50mm f/1.2 L USM lens. Other lenses in this range include the RF 24mm F1.4L VCM Lens and RF 35mm F1.4L VCM Lens.
