The Canon RF-S 7.8mm F4 STM Dual Lens is a 3D content creation lens compatible with the EOS R7 for filming in 4K. A compact stereoscopic dual lens that lets you easily add a new dimension to your storytelling. This lens is the latest addition to Canon’s EOS VR System lineup built for Canon’s APS-C Sensor, designed to capture immersive stills and VR video; well-suited for entertainment, tourism, and educational content.

The 7.8mm focal length (12.5mm full-frame equivalent) provides a focused 63° field of view, giving your images a natural perspective that mirrors the human eye while weighing only 130g for easy portability. To further simplify the video production process, the light from the lenses is recorded on a single CMOS sensor. This eliminates the need to adjust the camera position or synchronise the footage before shooting, as well as the need to piece together the footage after filming.

Bright and clear

2 UD lenses ensure high-quality images with the Ultra Low Dispersion glass preventing flare, ghosting and aberrations. The f/4 maximum aperture allows you to capture stunning spatial video even in the most difficult lighting environments, whether shooting indoor or outdoor scenes.

Stereoscopic lens

Unlike Virtual Reality 3D, this lens utilises Stereoscopic 3D technology to create images where the viewer has the impression of peering through a window into a three-dimensional world. The 3D effect of the images, which appear to protrude from the display, can be experienced while the viewer remains stationary, making this content more accessible on conventional screens.

This 3D Dual lens is straightforward to use and provides an easy-to-view output, enabling users to capture life’s most cherished moments in spatial video or 3D photography and then relive those memories on a VR headset or on smartphones using stereoscopic glasses.

Close-up 3D

The closer the lenses are together, the closer the optimum 3D effect distance, giving the RF-S 7.8mm a closer focusing distance than the RF-S 3.9mm VR fisheye lens. This minimum focusing distance of 0.15m is ideal for macro and close-up storytelling at an optimum range between 0.15m to 0.5m.

Sharp AF

An STM motor ensures sharp autofocus, utilising dual lenses to produce beautiful content with incredible depth and dimension. Plus, a control focus ring allows simple adjustment for the calibration of the lenses.

VR Utility app

After capturing video with the interchangeable lens, the EOS VR Utility app transforms the video captured from the camera to spatial video, which viewers can enjoy on the Apple Vision Pro.
