The 24-70mm f2.8 S II features internal zoom, letting it maintain a consistent centre of gravity as you adjust focal lengths. Fast and quiet AF

This is the first zoom lens in the Z lineup to feature Nikon’s Silky Swift Voice Coil Motor (SSVCM), delivering autofocus that’s 5x faster, 50% quieter, and 60% more responsive when zooming. Combined with a new multi-focusing system, the result is smoother focus tracking and near-zero focus breathing, making it ideal for cinematic transitions and demanding action shots.

S-Line optics

Engineered for maximum image quality, the advanced S-Line design uses fewer elements to greater effect. Dual-sided aspherical lenses and ED glass minimise distortion and chromatic aberrations, while Nikon’s Meso Amorphous and ARNEO coatings counter flare and ghosting, so you can shoot into harsh lighting without issue. The lens also features an 11-blade rounded aperture, creating beautifully smooth, circular bokeh with natural depth separation.

Close-up versatility

Despite not being a macro lens, the 24-70mm f/2.8 S II excels at close-up work with improved minimum focusing distances, just 0.24 m at 24mm and 0.33 m at 70mm. Maximum magnification reaches 0.32x, with the added advantage of a non-extending barrel for more stable shooting.

Custom control

Designed for flexibility, the customisable de-clickable control ring supports silent aperture adjustments for video, while the focus-limit switch ensures consistent working distances. The lens also features a 77mm filter thread and a new HB-117 lens hood with a filter adjustment window, perfect for using variable ND filters on set.
