The Nikon Z 28mm f/2.8 Lens is a fast, wide-angle prime lens designed for use with full-frame, Nikon Z-series mirrorless cameras. This is their smallest and lightest Nikkor Z lens yet* and is perfect for street, landscape and portrait photography.
Design and Build
The lens is super compact and lightweight, weighing in at 155g and measuring just 43mm in length, making it a perfect lens to take with you on every shoot. The lens has been constructed from 9 elements in 8 groups, including 2 aspherical lens elements, has a 52mm filter thread and has been sealed for protection against dust and water droplets. When used on a crop sensor camera, such as the Nikon Z fc, it produces a 42mm focal equivalent.
Expansive angle of view
With a 28mm focal length this lens is ideal for street, landscape and portrait photographers who need to get more into a scene. But that’s not all! The lens also boasts a minimum focus distance of just 0.19m which, when combined with its f2.8 aperture, makes it a go-to lens for close up and macro shooting.

The lens is perfect for video as well as photography thanks to its fast and silent auto-focus (AF) system, which is powered by an ultra-quiet stepping motor, allowing you to use it in environments where discretion is paramount.
Another feature of the lens that lends itself to videography is its silent control ring which can be set to control focus, aperture, exposure compensation, or ISO.
Focus breathing has also been significantly reduced so that focus can be adjusted without affecting the shot’s angle of view and the lenses compact size makes it perfect to use with a gimbal.
