Panasonic 25-50mm f1.7 Leica DG Vario-Summilux Lens
The Panasonic 25-50mm f1.7 Leica DG Vario-Summilux Lens is an exceptional micro four-thirds lens with fast aperture and quiet autofocus, it provides the equivalent full-frame focal range of a 50-100mm. Designed to work as a companion with the Leica DG Vario-Summilux 10-25mm f1.7 ASPH lens this 25-50mm provides the extended focal length required for a variety of subjects from portraiture, lifestyle, sport, videography and still photography.
A Videographers Dream
This lens is a videographer’s dream. A de-clicked aperture ring creates smooth exposure adjustments, whilst the maximum aperture of f1.7 is fast and razor-sharp. An integrated focus clutch mechanism makes the switch between AF and MF easy, speeding up your workflow and allowing for micro focusing adjustments to be made.
The internal focus is managed through a near-silent Linear AF motor that delivers impressively fast focusing performance. Additionally, barycentric stability minimises image shifts during zooming and suppresses focus breathing throughout the entire focal range. To aid smooth transitions during changes to brightness when zooming or panning, the lens also has a micro-step drive system that works with the mounted camera.
Premium Glass
Working in partnership with Leica, this lens is built to their high-quality standards. Comprising of 16 elements in 11 groups, the premium glass includes 1 aspherical lens, 3 extra-low dispersion lenses, and 1 UHR element. Each selected element combines to form a lens that suppresses the appearance of colour fringing, axial chromatic aberration, and spherical aberrations with excellent colour accuracy.
Professional Lens
Excelling in videography, this is also a superb still-image lens. Supported by the super-bright constant f1.7 maximum aperture this lens excels in low-light conditions. 9 diaphragm blades produce pleasing bokeh with smooth out of focus effects. The lens is weather-resistant against the elements granting you the confidence to take this 25-50mm f1.7 on shoots even when the weather is less than perfect. A minimum focusing distance of just 28cm is excellent for experimenting with alternative framing compositions and making the most of the 9-bladed diaphragm bokeh.
Perfect Companion
Designed to work seamlessly with the Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Summilux 10-25mm f/1.7 ASPH lens as the step-up in focal range. They share an almost identical dimension and weight with very similar outer aesthetics. Inside, the lens elements are also very similar, so that when combined with their shared 77mm filter diameter, both lenses can be interchanged to create a unified colour rendering and finished look. Essentially, this 25-50mm lens works as the second half of an enhanced two-lens zoom system. Ideal for filmmakers working towards a unified and hassle-free filming process.
