The Sigma 28-45mm f1.8 DG DN Art Lens For Sony E is the world’s first constant f/1.8 aperture lens at this focal length. The 28-45mm joins the 18-35mm f1.8 and 24-35mm f1.8 in Sigma’s Art line of large aperture zooms and is available in both Sony E & L mount.

The lens features an internal zoom and focus mechanism for optimal balance and a constant minimum focus distance of just 30cm throughout the entirety of the zoom length.

Low-light and Beautiful Bokeh

The Sigma 28-45mm f1.8 DG DN Art has a constant aperture of f/1.8 throughout the focal range. This gives full-frame camera users the ability to capture stunning images handheld in low-light situations with beautiful bokeh while enjoying the flexibility of a zoom.

Macro Capabilities

It’s not just a constant aperture that the lens offers. We also get a constant minimum focus distance of just 30cm throughout the focal length with a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4 at the telephoto end, providing excellent close-up shooting capabilities.

Inner Zoom and Inner Focus

The L-Mount version of the lens weighs 960g and measures 87.8 x 151.4mm so it’s easy to shoot hand-held but there is also an inner zoom mechanism so that the length stays the same while focusing which helps tremendously with balance whether you are shooting hand-held, on a tripod, or using with a gimbal.

Design and Build

The lens consists of 18 Elements in 15 Groups with 5 SLD elements and 3 aspherical elements for aberration correction. Axial chromatic aberration has been thoroughly suppressed, and the lens delivers clear images with minimal colouration, from sharply focused details to large, smooth bokeh.

Minimal Focus Breathing

The Sigma 28-45mm f1.8 ensures suppressed focus breathing to enable natural focus pull for video capture.

Minimal Flare and Ghosting

The lens uses SIGMA’s Nano Porous Coating and Super Multi-Layer Coating to reduce flare and ghosting.

Faster Focus

The lens utilises an HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) for fast, precise, near-silent autofocusing making it perfect for videographers.

Manual or Auto. The Choice is Yours

Manual focus is precise and easy thanks to a bi-wire-driven focus ring with optimum torque settings. The lens has a throw between 90° and 720°* which is also great news for film-makers looking for smooth pull focus.

Aperture Ring

The lens is equipped with an aperture ring as well as an aperture ring click switch and an aperture ring lock switch, allowing for aperture operation suitable for various shooting situations.

Assignable AFL buttons

As well as an aperture ring the lens also features two customisable* AFL buttons that can be easily reached in either horizontal or vertical shooting positions.

* Assignment of functions is limited to supported cameras and assignable functions vary depending on the camera 

Dust and SplashProof

In addition to a dust- and splash-resistant body*, the frontmost surface of the lens is coated with a water- and oil-repellent coating so that it can be used safely even in harsh outdoor environments.

* The product is designed to be dust- and splash-resistant but is not waterproof. When using the lens near water, etc., take care not to allow large amounts of water to splash on it. If water gets inside the lens, it may cause a major malfunction and render the lens unrepairable.
