Sigma 50mm f1.4 DG DN Art For Sony E

The fifth lens in Sigma’s range of fast-aperture DG DN Art prime lenses. The Sigma 50mm f1.4 DG DN Art For Sony E Lens brings improved optical performance and a new ultra-fast AF motor. The build is compact, yet high quality and durable, featuring a beautifully smooth bokeh, fast F1.4 aperture, and advanced features designed for professional use.

High-performance optics

Designed for mirrorless cameras; this high-performance standard zoom lens utilises the latest optical design technology to produce sharp images through to the frames’ peripheries. A minimum focusing distance of 45cm and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:6.8 result in less variation in aberration at different shooting distances.

The lens’ construction features 14 elements in 11 groups, including one SLD (Special Low Dispersion) element and three aspherical elements. A super multi-layer coating works with various optical improvements to help reduce sagittal coma flare at the edge of your image, minimise the effects of ghosting, and suppress aberrations including astigmatism and field curvature.

Fast and wide aperture

Boasting great versatility, this 50mm lens has a low depth of field to highlight your subject against any background producing high-contrast images. Its ultra-wide aperture of f1.4, like all of Sigma’s art line, makes it the perfect companion for low-light shoots such as concerts, weddings, and street photography.

New ultra-fast AF motor

Sigma’s new HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) autofocus motor technology ensures speed, accuracy, and near-silent performance when focusing while also demonstrating fast subject tracking. In comparison with the older model Sigma 50mm f1.4 DG HSM ART Lens, the use of a single double-sided aspherical element to focus is a great benefit to the autofocus and overall optical design.

Compact and durable

The lens’ design has been optimised in the pursuit of being both light and compact. Weighting only 670g gives the Sigma 50mm a well-balanced feel when attached to your mirrorless camera. The materials used throughout the lens have been chosen to protect its performance against temperature variation. A dust- and splash-resistant structure, water- and oil-repellant front-element coating, and rubber sealing around the mount provide the peace of mind needed to shoot in any environment or weather conditions.

Advanced feature-set

The lens barrel features a number of useful functions designed to aid in professional use. For aperture, these include a manual aperture ring to provide immediate and seamless aperture control, an aperture ring click switch for alternating between stepped, third-stop increments, and click-free action, and the presence of a lock switch. An AFL button can be customised to sync with a variety of camera features, depending on the camera model; while a Focus Mode Switch further helps when you want to alternate how the lens is focussing throughout a shoot.

Smooth bokeh

11 diaphragm blades produce a beautiful bokeh so that your out-of-focus highlights are smoothly rounded and pleasing to the eye.

Extra features

The lens comes with a petal-type lens hood which features a lock button, robust design, and rubberised grip for easy attachment and removal.

The Sigma 50mm f1.4 DG DN | Art Lens – L Mount is able to connect with Sigma’s USB Dock, allowing for customisations such as switching between linear and non-linear focus ring movement.
