Sigma 60-600mm f4.5-6.3 DG DN OS I Sports For Sony E

The Sigma 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS | Sports lens from Sigma is the world’s first and only* full-frame,10x ultra-telephoto zoom for mirrorless cameras. The lens has been designed to produce outstanding image quality and features a dust- and splash-proof construction, extremely fast autofocusing and improved stabilisation. The 60-600mm focal range makes this a versatile lens that is perfect for sports, wildlife, motor sport and aviation photography as well as videography.

Outstanding Image Quality

The 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN | Sports has been developed to meet the demands of fast-action photographers as well as film-makers. The lens has been constructed with 27 elements in 19 groups, including 2 FLD elements and 3 SLD elements to correct chromatic aberration, which is an issue often visible on ultra-telephoto lenses. Edge-to-edge sharpness is delivered across the entire zoom range and at all apertures.

The lens also features some impressive macro capabilities with a minimum focusing distance of 45cm at the 60mm end as well as a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.4 when used at 200mm.

High-response Linear Actuator (HLA)

The lens has been fitted with a newly developed High-response Linear Actuator (HLA) motor to produce extremely quiet, fast and accurate autofocus. This also enables outstanding focus-following performance, which is especially important for fast-action photographers and videographers.

Improved Optical Stabiliser

The 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN | Sports features an in-built Optical Stabiliser (OS) function that uses Sigma’s newly developed OS2 algorithm to significantly improve image stabilisation performance. This provides 7 stops at the 60mm end and 6 stops at the 600mm end of the lens giving photographers sharp images even in low-light situations.

There are two modes available when using OS. Mode 1 is best used for general use while Mode 2 has been designed for panning which is especially useful for tracking subjects such as fast cars, aircrafts and birds. Mode 2 has been achieved by combining an acceleration sensor with the Intelligent OS software. This enables effective stabilisation except in the panning direction, giving a smoother viewfinder image and easier tracking.

Designed for Professionals

The lens comes equipped with a host of features aimed toward the professional user. The structure of the lens includes magnesium, CFRP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic), and TSC (Thermally Stable Composite), which have been arranged optimally according to their characteristics. This results in a lighter barrel weight than the previous version with no sacrifice in robustness.

The Dual Action Zoom feature has been added to increase speed and accuracy when focusing. This allows the user to zoom in and out via the zoom ring or by simply pushing/pulling the end of the lens for fast-changing scenarios. There is also a zoom lock switch built-in to stop zoom creep as well as a Focus Limiter switch, that allows users to limit the focus range during AF to get more precise results.

The lens features three easy-to-operate AFL buttons that can be customised for a wide range of functions via the camera menu.* On the L-Mount version, the SIGMA USB DOCK UD-11(sold separately) can be used to set OS operation or the focus limiter range.

Dust and Splash Resistant*

The 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN | Sports boasts a dust and splash resistant* design to stop dust and dirt entering and damaging the lens. This applies to the mount connection, manual focus ring, zoom ring, switches, switch panel and exterior connection. There has also been an oil-repellent coating applied to the front element so that it is easier to clean.

Other Features

The lens features an Arca Swiss-compatible magnesium alloy tripod socket and the leg can be removed/replaced with other interchangeable tripod sockets (sold separately).

There is a lens hood included that comes equipped with a lock mechanism as well as a rubber grip that makes it easier to attach and remove the hood for push-pull zoom.

You can use the TC-1411 (1.4x)*Sold separately and TC- 2011 (2.0x)* tele-converters with the L-Mount version for  AF-enabled shooting at ultra-telephoto focal lengths of up to 1200mm.
