Super steady shooting
Sony’s one of a kind Balanced Optical SteadyShot features an internal gimbal mechanism. This superb feature is 13x more impactful than other optical systems and allows you to create a smooth, professional-looking video without heaps of additional equipment. This is also effective when you’re running or are filming on unsteady terrain.

Designed to maximise your potential from the latest display technology, the FDR-AX43 will capture Ultra HD 4K video.
By pairing the latest lens and image sensor technology, the video camera will produce high detailed 4K resolution. High sensitivity means it will produce excellent results in low lighting conditions too. High bitrate XAVC S format recording will pick out all the detail even against a complex backdrop and subject.
High-performance ZEISS optics
The camcorder features a ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* lens. ZEISS is highly renowned for being one of the top lens makers in the world. Sony has collaborated with ZEISS on many excellent camera and lens products making them a superb choice for photographers and videographers alike. The lens ensures that you get the best results from the overall capability of this camera.
With a wide-angle of 26.8mm, you can take in all the scenery in your frame. The 20x optical zoom allows you to reach further (equivalent to 536mm in 16:9 mode). Want to reach even further? A 30x (4k) and 40x (HD) Clear Image Zoom plus 250x digital zoom gives endless possibilities.
Powerful Exmor R image sensor and BIONZ X Processor Engine
The camera houses a high powered Exmor R CMOS Image Sensor. This produces sharp images and excellent noise reduction in poor lighting conditions. The BIONZ X processing engine offers up natural, vivid true to life imaging while maintaining high processing performance throughout the camera’s functions.
Rapid, reliable Autofocus
The fast intelligent AF algorithm of the camera has been optimised for a strong connection between your lens and Exmor R Image Processor. This gives the camera fast and precise autofocus capabilities. An advanced AF range prediction feature helps to track moving objects keeping them in sharp focus.
Rich sound recording
The camera has 3 inbuilt mic capsules. These offer a clear and detailed sound. They will offer reduced noise and a clear definition between each stereo channel.
The camera also features headphones and microphone jacks to allow you to master your sound as required with the use of a shotgun, lapel and other types of external microphones. LCD Touch Screen Display
An easy to navigate user interface is presented on a vivid 7.5 cm 3.0 type Clear Photo LCDÂ 921,600 dot touchscreen, which has been upgraded from the previous model of 460,800 dots.
Up to nearly 4 hours of recording time
The AX43 uses a high-capacity Sony NP-FV70A battery to enable recording for long periods up to 235 mins. The battery is interchangeable and spares can be added to your order in our bundle section above.
Cinematic slow motion and time-lapses
High framerate shooting up to 100fps/120fps in Full HD is possible with the FDR-AX43. This means you can capture creative, awe-inspiring slow-motion videos in high detail.
A 4K time-lapse option means you can capture a long series of stills at an interval of your choice. Mount the camera on a tripod, or set it down securely and let it capture a landscape or a city or anything of your choice. The 4K image frames are then combined into a timelapse movie. Perfect for an establishing shot or social media content.
Easy Connectivity
Connect the camera to your Android or iOS device using the Sony Imaging Edge mobile app. From here, you can easily share and upload your videos to the wider world.
