Compact and lightweight

The Tamron 150-500 has been designed to be compact and lightweight so that it can still be used handheld whilst producing high-quality images. The lens measures 209.6mm when retracted and just 283mm when extended to its 500mm focal length and weighs only 1.75kg.

Zooming the lens from 150mm to 500mm only requires rotating the zoom ring through an arc of just 75°, which is less than a quarter of a turn, allowing you to make rapid adjustments, while shooting, with minimal movement.

Outstanding image quality

The optical construction of the lens is made up of 25 elements in 16 groups and uses, one XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion), five LD (Low Dispersion), and two Hybrid Aspherical lens elements to control aberrations, including axial chromatic aberrations.

Quiet and Fast VXD Focusing

The lens delivers extreme high-speed, high-precision movement and incredibly responsive performance thanks to the highly acclaimed VXD linear motor focus mechanism. Fast, comfortable and accurate focusing is assured even when using the ultra-telephoto end of the 500mm focal length.

Minimum focusing distance of 0.6m

The lens boasts a minimum focusing distance of 0.6m, at the 150mm zoom length and 1.8m when fully extended to 500mm making it an excellent choice for macro shooting. Capturing images of flowers and insects is made even easier thanks to the lens magnification ratio of 1:3.1, at 150mm, allowing the user to maintain a decent shooting distance from the subject.

BBAR-G2 Coating

The lens has been given a BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) Coating. This is to ensure that ghosting and flare are kept to a minimum level while maintaining all the minute details, even when the subject is backlit.

This combination of features works in harmony to provide sharp images with natural colours and rich saturation.

Suitable for all weather conditions

You can use the Tamron 150-500mm F5-6.7 in even the toughest of weather conditions thanks to its moisture-resistant construction. The front surface of the lens element has been coated with a protective fluorine compound, making it water- and oil-repellent. This also makes the surface of the lens much easier to wipe clean and makes it more resistant to dirt, dust, moisture and fingerprints.
