Tamron has designed this lens to be the best of the best. It is the world’s first APS-C mirrorless camera zoom lens with a 16.6x zoom ratio making it incredibly versatile to a huge range of photographic possibilities. The 18-300mm has the equivalent full-frame focal length of 27-450mm. The lens contains many special lens elements to maintain the edge-to-edge high-resolution performance that will suppress optical aberrations, including 3x Hybrid Aspherical and 4x Low Dispersion elements.

Macro Photography

The 18-300mm f3.5-6.3 lens is well suited to macro photography. At the 18mm wide end of the focal range, the lens has a minimum focusing distance of just 0.15m (5.9in) and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2. The incredible MOD (minimum object distance) brings the great macro potential to this lens, creating the beautiful blurred bokeh associated with macro photography.

Ultra-Telephoto Photography

At the long end of the focal range this Tamron lens performs incredibly well. Featuring built-in Vibration Compensation (VC) the lens is capable of taking pin-sharp images at the 300mm focal length even with a slow shutter speed. This feature opens up shooting possibilities for indoor and night photography where low light can be an issue. The internal zoom linear motor mechanism prevents the lens from being front heavy when zooming long distances, this is especially useful when mounting the lens onto smaller APS-C cameras.

Videography

Not just for photography, this lens is an exceptional choice for videographers. The Autofocus drive system with Tamron’s VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism is impressively quiet and agile. This makes the lens well suited to videography where silent equipment is essential. The AF is excellent when it comes to tracking moving objects and the AI technologies of the VC will choose the best compensation characteristic for videography at focal lengths of 70mm or less.

Outstanding VC Stabilisation

The 18-300mm lens utilises Tamron’s proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) to reduce image blur even at long focal lengths and in low-light. The VC works with and without the camera’s own image stabilisation to mitigate camera shake, so even if your camera does not have IBIS the lens can do the work for you. Using AI technologies the lens will also choose the best vibration compensation for your videography at focal lengths of 70mm or less.

User Friendly Features

Tamron has packed plenty of user-friendly features into this impressive zoom lens. The body is constructed to be moisture resistant, making it suitable for outdoor use in all weathers. A fluorine coating on the front lens element also further protects the lens and repels water, oil, dirt and dust from sticking to the lens.
