Tamron has expanded its Fujifilm X-mount lens range with the introduction of the new 17-70mm F2.8 Di III-A VC RXD lens for Fujifilm. A high-speed zoom lens designed specifically for mirrorless cameras with APS-C size sensors. Previously available in Sony’s FE mount, this new mount provided Fuji X mount mirrorless camera users with the opportunity to enjoy the razor-sharp, award-winning quality of the Tamron 17-70mm f2.8 Di III-A VC RXD lens.
Featuring a maximum aperture of F2.8 across the entire zoom length and superb optical performance it is a small, lightweight lens that is also equipped with VC (Vibration Compensation) to minimize camera shake. This VC mechanism leverages AI technology when shooting video.
Hight-speed standard zoom lens for APS-C Cameras
The 17-70mm F2.8 Di III-A VC RXD Lens has a focal length range of 17-70mm (25.5-105mm, 35mm equivalent) and is the first F2.8 high-speed zoom lens in the world for APS-C mirrorless cameras to achieve a 4.1x zoom ratio.
Outstanding Optical performance
The lens is constructed of 16 elements in 12 groups. Two GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements and one hybrid aspherical lens element are precisely arranged to maintain high-resolution performance from edge to edge. At 70mm, a commonly used telephoto zoom focal length, the design delivers excellent resolution from edge-to-edge.
Minimum Focusing Distance of 19cm
The 17-70mm F/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD zoom focuses close, down to 0.19m MOD (Minimum Object Distance). This is far superior to the performance achieved by conventional high-speed zoom lenses for APS-C cameras. In addition, the 0.39m MOD at the 70mm telephoto end ensures good close-range shooting performance allowing photographers to enjoy compelling close-up shots.
Portable and compact design
The 17-70mm F/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD zoom measures a scant 119.6mm in length and 74.6mm in maximum diameter and weighs only 530g. This is remarkable for a lens with built-in VC image stabilization.
Perfect for video
The high-speed auto-focus is extremely quiet thanks to its RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) AF motor unit, allowing virtually noise-free, quiet operation for video and photos. Thanks to the exceedingly quiet AF, the lens can be used discreetly in concert halls and other situations that require low noise levels, and obviously for video recording.
The lens also features VC (Vibration Compensation) to minimize camera shake. This feature is available when the lens is used with cameras with or without in-body image stabilization. When shooting video, by leveraging AI technology, image stabilization performance improves compared to conventional models.
Moisture-Resistant Construction
The lens is resistant to fingerprints and dirt thanks to its Moisture-Resistant Construction and hydrophobic Fluorine Coating. Seals are located at the lens mount area and other critical locations to deter infiltration of moisture and/or raindrops. This feature provides an additional layer of protection when shooting outdoors under adverse weather conditions.
