Not only is the 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 Di III VXD a very versatile lens. It is compact enough to take with you anywhere weighing in at only 1180g and measuring just 18.5 cm in length. The construction is made up of 24 elements in 18 groups, including two XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion), three LD (Low Dispersion), one GM (Glass Moulded Aspherical) and one Hybrid Aspherical lens elements to thoroughly control aberrations including axial chromatic aberrations. It also features a 9 circular bladed aperture, for outstanding bokeh, a 67mm filter size, which is the same as many other Tamron lenses and features a Moisture-Resistant and Fluorine Coating.

Half-Macro

The lens is perfect for a wide range of photographic styles including half-macro thanks to its ability to deliver up to 1:2 size magnification when used between 50 and 70mm and has a minimum focusing distance of just 25cm at the 50mm end of the lens. The lens can even produce a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4 at the 400mm end as well as a minimum focus distance of 1.5m.

Tamron Lens Utility Compatible

The lens is compatible with Tamron Lens Utility software, meaning that it can be customised and have its firmware updated from your computer. Tamron’s unique software includes features such as focus presets, AF/MF select focus, a switch focus/aperture ring function, and the new focus limiter.
