Description

Panasonic GH5 II with 12-60mm f3.5-5.6

Outstanding video performance, evolved from the highly successful DMC-GH5. New features include an impressive 6.5-stop 5-axis Dual I.S. 2*2 system, C4K/4K 60p 4:2:0 10-bit unlimited video recording, new Photo Style modes, in-camera frame markers, new Focus Ring Control, and brand new Wireless Live Streaming capabilities.

Wireless Live Streaming via LUMIX Sync App

Stream indoors and outdoors with new high-quality wireless streaming via the LUMIX Sync App. In addition to the tethered streaming of the GH5, the M2 frees the user from cables and offers a variety of ways through which to stream content with minimal equipment.

By downloading the Network Setting Software onto an SD card inserted into the camera, the GH5M2 is capable of connecting directly to the router and streaming at a maximum resolution of FHD/60p at 16Mbps completely cable-free. Simply open up the LUMIX Sync App, follow the steps and the camera will begin the stream. A further feature for those with over 1000 YouTube subscribers, log in to your account on the Sync App for seamless, instant streaming. Creators with under 1000 subscribers can still experience the same streaming benefits once their Stream URL and Stream Key have been inputted.

Whilst live streaming via the Sync App, the camera is still capable of outputting through an HDMI cable, perfect for use with a monitor or other events. Please note that it is not possible to record onto an SD card or use the remote control section of the Sync App whilst live streaming.

Alternatively, for wired live streaming, download the LUMIX Webcam Software, available free of charge.

Further features to come throughout the year are to include a scheduled firmware update in 2021 for USB tethering via a 4G/5G smartphone link which will have a more stable connection and streaming distribution ability and RTP/RTSP wired IP streaming.

Zero Crop in C4K / 4K60p/50p 10-bit

Expand the possibilities of film production with options to shoot in Cinema 4K and traditional 4K at 60p/50p in either 10-bit or 8-bit with zero crop. When shooting video, the entire sensor area is used, enabling the user to record uncropped video from the original viewing angle of the lens. Outstanding video quality is guaranteed with a vast range of internal recording settings and advanced features that meet the needs of professional quality standards such as HDR.

Furthermore, enjoy these features not only for in-camera recording but also when using an HDMI Output simultaneously. The GH5M2 features all of these film modes without compromising on image ratio and can achieve C4K/4K 60p 4:2:0 10-bit unlimited video recording and can simultaneously output 4K 4:2:2 10-bit over HDMI.

6.5-stop 5-axis Dual I.S. 2*2

Panasonic has adopted the latest algorithm developed for the S1H to add improved blur detection accuracy by using multiple sensors to improve sensor fusion calculation. Image sensor, Gyrosensor and Accelerometer figures are all used to pre-empt camera shake and calculate the position of the 5-axis sensor, reducing motion blur. This achieves more stable correction during the video and even works to suppress shaking while raising the camera in hand or when you stop panning.

Powerful Body I.S corrects hand-shake, making it possible to use a 6.5-stop slower shutter speed, even with lenses not equipped with O.I.S. Additionally, Dual I.S 2 provides powerful compensation even in the telephoto range where Body I.S may drop.

Improved Autofocus Tracking including Face, Eye, and Animal recognition

Bringing forward Face and Eye recognition from the GH5, the M2 has vastly improved autofocus settings and uses AI technology to integrate Head, Body, and Animal recognition, aligning this camera with some more advanced competitors in this field.

Latest High-Speed Venus Engine Evolved from GH5

Evolving the High-Speed Venus Engine from the GH5, this latest update has improved the original system which creates natural texture in stunning detail. The Intelligent Detail Processing analyses every pixel and labels it either flat, detail, or edge. Optimum processing according to these characteristics is then applied to each pixel for incredibly accurate detail.

Enhanced 20.3MP MOS Sensor with AR Coating

The GH5M2 continues to use the same Micro Four Thirds 20.3MP MOS Sensor of the GH5 with enhanced improvements. A special AR (anti-reflective) coating on the sensor is designed to handle bright skies and improve dynamic range possibilities, reducing both ghosting and flare.

Pre-installed V-Log L

Included as a standard in the GH5M2, V-Log L allows users to expand their dynamic range by up to 12 stops for colour grading and increased flexibility during post-production. Log renders a very flat image whilst retaining all of its colour information. V-Log L, which is an additional purchase for the GH5, allows the Micro Four Thirds footage to be edited utilising 35 compatible conversion LUTs (Look Up Tables) in editing, thus allowing more creativity and experimentation during post-production.

New Photo Style Modes

Enjoy the upgraded Cinelike D2 and Cinelike V2, which have similar gamma setting characteristics used for film production. Available in the Photo Style menu, the Cinelike settings create impressive looks with warm skin tones or delicate nuances of light and shadow, even without grading over V-Log footage. This cuts down on post-production time as well as showing, in-camera, the finished look of the recording. Cinelike D2 prioritises dynamic range while Cinelike V2 will prioritise contrast.

Two new photo style modes are an additional feature to the GH5M2. Increase your creativity whilst shooting with two image styles: L. Classic Neo and L. Monochrome S. Reduce the need for post-production by shooting in these modes and having footage that is ready for sharing straight out of the camera via the LUMIX Sync App. All these presets are also available in Anamorphic mode.

4K 50p Anamorphic & Image Stabiliser Anamorphic

The GH5M2 packs a punch in its ability to record and display 4K-A 60p/50p or 6K-A 30p/25p video, as well as recording anamorphic footage with image stabilisation, all with zero crop. This advanced feature meets a wide range of creative needs.

Options to desqueeze the image in-camera is a new feature to the M2 allowing images to be recorded in 4:3 ratio but displayed in cinemascope. Magnification rates can also be selected from 1.3x, 1.33x, 1.5x, 1.8x, or 2.0x in this mode. An image stabiliser ideal for anamorphic lenses can also be used, and depending on the lens magnification a range of magnification rates between 1.3x-2.0x can be applied.

Shoot SuperSpeed and Enhanced Slow-Motion with impressive Variable Framerates

With impressive VFR (Variable Frame Rate) capabilities, the M2 can record up to 15x speed in C4K/4K and 4K-A, and even up to 30x in FHD. Enhanced slow-motion capabilities include shooting up to 60fps 25p in C4K and 60fps 24p in 4K. Plus an outstanding 180fps when shooting in FHD at 24p. Autofocus can also be set before starting VFR recording which is a useful additional feature.

Unlimited Recording Time

As with the GH5, the M2 has unlimited record time, even when shooting C4K/4K 60p 4:2:0 10-bit, making this camera ideal for long shoots that may be hindered by other interchangeable-lens cameras’ capped shooting limits. Continuous shooting allows for the camera to record footage for as long as the power supply and memory cards will allow.

Focus Ring Control

The all-new Focus Ring Control makes intuitive focus adjustments possible when compatible lenses are mounted. Choose between Non-linear and Linear options for heightened coordination between the focus ring operation and the amount of focus movement when using supported lenses. This coordination makes video focus features such as follow focus and pull focus more ergonomic.

Non-Linear – Focus responds according to the rotation speed of the focus ring.

Linear – Focus responds according to the rotation angle of the focus ring, mimicking a manual lens. The sensitivity in the linear setting can be set between 90 and 360 degrees at 30-degree intervals.

Remote Control Lumix Tether

As with the GH5, the M2 can also be controlled via LUMIX Teather using a SuperSpeed USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C connection cable. Ideal for studio shoots, record either video or take still images, edit camera settings (Sec/dB display cannot be selected), and transfer footage to the PC after recording. The software even supports 6K and 4K photos including 6K Photo burst. Please note that Wi-fi/Bluetooth connection is not possible during tethered shooting.

Record whilst charging

Recording whilst charging is integral for long shoots. The GH5M2 is able to charge whilst recording via a USB power supply directly to the camera which is ideal for scenarios where a fixed camera is used or during long studio shoots. Additionally, there is the option to supply power to the camera while charging the battery, which is a highly appealing feature of the M2.

Included in the upgrade, Panasonic has developed a new DMW-BLK22 2200mAh battery for the M2. This faster battery can be fully charged in 230 minutes and record continuously for up to 140 minutes on one charge, freeing you up for extended shooting possibilities.

Dust, Splash & Freeze resistant

To be tough enough to withstand heavy use in any scenario, the GH5M2 is fully weatherproofed. Secure construction and sealing on every joint, button, and dial makes this splash and dustproof. The camera body is even freeze-proof down to -10 degrees meaning this camera can go wherever you can. The shutter unit is also durable for approximately 200,000 cycles.

Dual Card Slot

No modern camera is complete without a dual card slot. The GH5M2 is no exception and accepts two SD UHS-II U3 memory cards. The GH5M2 can record onto two memory cards in one of three configurations. Relay Rec fills one card first and automatically moves to the next. Backup Rec records the same data onto two cards simultaneously. Allocation Rec records images to one card and video to another. Ideal for configuring your camera to suit your requirements.

3” FA & Touch Screen

View all the footage taken on the GH5M2 through the improved 3”, FA (Free-Angle) Touch Screen. With 1840k pixels and a 3:2 aspect ratio, footage review is now more accurate than ever and the new High Visbility feature ensures that the screen features higher luminosity and superior colour reproduction, even outdoors.

Video Shooting Assist Functions

Frame Indicator

Never make the mistake of forgetting to press the record button again. In the M2 an optional red frame indicates when you are recording both on the LCD screen and in the EVF, as well as the traditional red dot in the top right-hand corner. Making it next to impossible to miss a shot. Similarly, a blue frame indicates when the camera is streaming. Both settings can be selected ON/OFF in the camera menu.

Frame Marker

From anamorphic to vertical videos for social media, the new Frame Marker indicates the frame once cropping has occurred in post-production. Shoot confidently, knowing that whether you are going to crop to CinemaScope, HD, 35mm, or square, you will have the entire subject in perfect composition every time.

Vertical Position Information

The GH5M2 can now detect when it is in the vertical orientation and gives the user the option to add the vertical position information of the video from the menu.

Improved Menu Configurations

Make your menu work for you with new features including Filtering which allows the user to narrow down various recording settings so that you find the setting you are after faster. My List of Record Quality also lets the user register their frequently used combinations for quick recall during set up. In addition to these new settings, the M2 also brings forward My Menu from the GH5, a menu in which frequently used settings can be aggregated for speedy setups and scene changes.

Luminance Spot Meter

Another new feature is the Luminance Spot Feature. Assisting when in video shooting mode, the luminance of a small area of the subject can be measured. This is particularly useful when checking 18% grey in V-Log L recording. The Spot meter is calculated as 0 Stop=42% IRE and is measured in the range of -7% to 109% IRE.

Zebra pattern brightness

Zebra Pattern displays areas of over-exposure with multi-directional stripes. The brightness range displayed in the zebra pattern can be set more finely when in V-Log L. Zebra 1 and Zebra 2 can be set individually but displayed simultaneously, improving detailed exposure adjustments and accuracy.

LIKE709 and Knee Control

Record footage in Like709, a picture profile that has the natural look of Rec.709, the television standard. Knee control then enables to shoot images with suppressed whiteout, improving the overall image quality of the shot.

Wave Form Monitor and Vector Scope

Both Wave Form Monitor and Vector Scope allow the user to precisely check their footage in-camera, to see that it complies with broadcast regulations.

Control Panel

Personalise the control panel to display features used most frequently. Select a number of different settings to display including SEC/ISO, Angle/ISO and SEC/dB.
