High Image Quality with a Back-illuminated Stacked 24.1 Megapixel Full-frame CMOS Sensor

The Canon R3 has Canon’s first full-frame, back-illuminated stacked CMOS image sensor, which has significantly quicker read-out rates and far less “rolling shutter” distortion than prior EOS models. The new sensor design significantly improves light collecting efficiency, resulting in clearer low-light images while still allowing genuine 14-bit RAW data to be captured in electronic shutter mode.

DIGIC X Image Processor with an ISO range of 100-102400; Expandable to 204800

The DIGIC X Image Processor in the Canon R3 camera allows for high-speed operation and synchronisation of operations including Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, Image Stabilization, image processing, and video capability. The EOS R3 camera, with an ISO range of 100-102400 (expandable to 204800), offers a wide range of standard and extended ISOs (for still photos), as well as a versatile set of auto settings to aid improve photography in a variety of lighting circumstances.

High-speed continuous shooting of up to approx. 30 fps with electronic (silent) shutter and up to 12 fps with Mechanical Shutter

The EOS R3 camera captures the split-second details between a subject’s motions at speeds of up to 12 frames per second with the mechanical shutter and up to 30 frames per second with the electronic (silent) shutter. This is great for photographs of athletes, animals, automobiles, and motorbikes in motion.

Suppressed rolling shutter distortion

The EOS R3 has reduced rolling shutter distortion in fast-moving photos thanks to the improved sensor’s high-speed readout.

Improved Dual Pixel CMOS AF with 1,053 AF Points featuring Vehicle Detection as well as Eye, Face, Head, and Animal Detection.

The extremely responsive Dual Pixel CMOS AF II technology on the EOS R3 camera has been upgraded with features such as 1,053 Automatic AF zones and better servo AF scenarios employing eye, body, face, head (now including helmets), animal, and now vehicle subject identification. With speed, precision, and ease, fast action can be caught and concentration maintained during each burst capture.

The low-luminance limit for AF: EV -7.5.

The Canon R3 now has a focus range of -7.5 EV, enabling excellent nighttime shooting with pinpoint focus precision. This ultra-sensitive AF works in tandem with the EVF on the EOS R3 to catch subjects clearly even in low-light situations.

The First EOS Digital camera to feature Eye Control AF

The Canon R3 brings a popular feature from the EOS 3 film camera into the digital mirrorless family of EOS cameras, making subject focus faster and more accurate. The user just looks through the Electronic Viewfinder at the subject they wish to focus on, selects that point, and shoots using eye control AF. This is simply one more way the EOS R3 allows photographers to manage focus more quickly and intuitively.

5.76-million-dot & 120 fps blackout-free EVF with quick response3, as well as a Vari-Angle Touchscreen

The Canon R3 camera has a high-precision EVF with about 5.76 million dots, which reduces lag time when shooting continuously. The EVF includes an OVF simulation view assist function, which recreates the natural field of a classic optical viewfinder by displaying a bright image and comprehensive shooting information that rotates with the camera.

When in electronic shutter mode, the EOS R3’s blackout-free EVF offers a 120 fps refresh rate and has been designed to deliver a bright, clear, and colourful 100% continuous view of the tracked subject at hand, with little aberration or distortion. The EOS R3 also has a 3.2-inch Vari-angle Touchscreen LCD that can be used to compose and evaluate photographs as well as make menu adjustments. When you tap the screen while capturing photographs or videos in Live View, the camera will instantly lock focus on that exact spot in the image.

Capable of recording 6K 60P RAW or 4K 120p 10-bit (uncropped) with Canon Log 3

The EOS R3 makes use of its 6K RAW at 60 fps or 4K 120 fps uncropped capabilities, which were designed and developed with Cinema EOS pairing. In addition, the camera supports 6K and 5.6K oversampling in 4K DCI and UHD, respectively, for improved image quality with less moiré, colour distortion, and noise. Flexible recording modes, including HDR PQ, Canon Log 3, RAW, and, of course, EOS Standard, let the user select the post-production workflow most suited to the project.

In-body Image Stabilizer can provide up to 8 Stops of Shake Correction.

Incorporating 5-axis IBIS (In-Body Image Stabilization) found on the EOS R5 and R6 cameras, the EOS R3 will not only enhance the ability to shoot still images at slower shutter speeds but it will also help reduce camera shake when shooting movies. Additionally, the EOS R3’s IBIS will work in combination with the Optical Image Stabilization found in many Canon RF lenses producing a total of up to 8-stops of shake correction.

Dual Card Slots for CFexpress and UHS-II SD Memory Cards

The EOS R3 camera can write an astounding quantity of pictures and movies to its ultra-high-speed CFexpress** dual card slots, whether you’re taking photos every day or recording 6K RAW videos. A UHS-II SD*** card slot is also included as a useful backup or alternative to the primary memory card.

Next Generation Multi-Function Shoe plus Speedlite EL-1 synchronization.

When linked to a smartphone, the next-generation Multi-Function Shoe provides features such as wireless radio flash control for still photography, as well as the ability to enter digital sound data during movie shooting and network connection. It increases the field of shooting stills and videos, as well as the possibility of communication when used in conjunction with suitable devices.

Wired LAN, USB, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth Technology

For numerous means of the picture and video transfer, the EOS R3 offers both wired and wireless connectivity. For a quick and secure hardwired connection, the camera has an Ethernet interface (IEEE 802.3u, 1000BASE-T) and a connector (RJ-45). Utilizing image. canon, the photographer or filmmaker may quickly upload picture or video files to a smartphone, computer, or cloud service using the camera’s built-in 5GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity. High-speed file transmission via 5G is accessible for iOS smartphone users with a compatible smartphone and USB connection.

GPS

By tagging files with GPS position coordinates and precise camera timestamp information, the built-in GPS (compatible with GLONASS and QZSS) improves the photography and videography workflow, making file and chronological organisation easier.

Enhanced Operating Controls and Accessories.

The EOS R3 allows you to interact with the camera in a variety of natural and ergonomic ways. The first is the built-in vertical grip, which provides the user additional control in both landscape and portrait modes by duplicating the primary image interface buttons on the grip’s portrait side. Those who are familiar with the EOS-1D X Mark III and EOS R5’s button and LCD layouts will feel right at home with the EOS R3. For further control over camera features, the EOS R3 has both the smart controller from the EOS-1D X Mark III and the multi-controller used on many EOS cameras.

Dust and drip resistance equal to the EOS-1D X Series

The Canon R3 camera is built to work in a wide range of weather situations. In essential places such as the buttons, dials, levers, terminal covers, battery compartment, and card slot cover, sealing materials are employed. The camera’s precise design and construction assist to prevent dust and moisture from entering the rest of the body by mistake. The EOS R3 camera shows to be a trustworthy partner in nearly any climate when used with an RF lens or any other weather-sealed EF/EF-S lens using the Mount Adapter EF-EOS R.
